Hello! I’m Sophie.

I’m a dynamic and passionate journalist specialized in using technology to write thoughtful, exclusive and impactful stories with detail and care.

 

I’ve worked in some of the world’s top newsrooms producing award-winning multimedia content that has had a measurable impact in legislation, litigation, activism and my community. I am an experienced investigative data journalist and use an in-depth angle in everything I do.

 

Currently, I am an investigative data reporter at Bloomberg Industry Group, comprised of BLaw, BGov and BTax.

 

Most recently, I was a congressional committees and floor action reporter for CQ Roll Call and the Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellow for the Utah Investigative Journalism Project in partnership with the Salt Lake Tribune.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Boston University in 2020 with a concentration in data and investigations, as well as a minor in Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Studies. I earned the college's highest honor, the Blue Chip Award, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with six internships under my belt and as the managing editor of the school paper.




I am a devoted member of Investigative Reporters and Editors, attending and speaking at NICAR and IRE conferences since 2019. I practice solutions journalism and have a goal that each of my stories further accountability, have measurable impact and make people feel heard.

 

Growing up in Utah's Salt Lake Valley in my ancestral home of Draper, my early passions were business, writing, research, government and public speaking, leading me to journalism as the blend of them all. You can find me with my nose in a book, playing with my cat, listening to vinyl, playing card games with my friends, crafting or hiking in the woods.
